Fiat 500 Giardiniera Fiat 500 Giardiniera

Fiat 500 Giardiniera

Lot #202 (Sale Order 2 of 77)

The Nuova 500 is a masterpiece of packaging the rearwheel drive rearengined layout leaving a remarkably uncluttered cabin with adequate room for four passengers despite the diminutive length of just 97ft At its introduction in 1957 the little Fiat was powered by a twincylinder engine of 479cc and just 13bhp but by the time of the later 500F the capacity had grown to 499cc and the output to 22bhp sufficient for a maximum speed of around 60mph combined with a fuel consumption of over 50mpg In 1967 Autobianchi commenced building the Giardiniera estate in Desio ItalyThis lovely Giardiniera car was discovered in a private collection in Northern Italy during August 2016 and was subsequently imported to the UK in September 2016 On inspection you may discover how very clean and tidy the Positano yellow coachwork is and as with all Giardinieras it features suicide doors The condition of the interior and engine compartment matches the rest of this car perhaps suggesting that the recorded 89209km 55431 miles is original The history folder contains a dating letter from Fiat confirming that this example was registered in Italy on 11th October 1971 as well as a NOVA certificate and a UK V5 registration document whilst we are informed that the 500 will arrive at the sale with a fresh MoT test certificate With the Fiat 500 now in its 60th anniversary year this example offered without reserve offers something a little different and practical and in such a small package

Fiat 600 Multipla Restoration Fiat 600 Multipla Restoration

Fiat 600 Multipla Restoration

Lot #203 (Sale Order 3 of 77)

The Fiat 600 Multipla was, amazingly, only slightly longer than a mini Cooper but felt so much bigger. This had been achieved by moving the driver's compartment forward over the front axle, effectively eliminating the boot but giving the body a very modern people carrier-like look. This is the 4/5 seater version offering two rows of seats; fixed front bench seat for driver and passenger, fold-down rear bench for two or three passengers and a cargo space between the rear seats and the firewall. Purchased from Gullwing Motorcars in New York in an unrestored state, taxes and duty have since been paid and it is Nova registered. The body and chassis appear to be in sound condition although it will need a thorough restoration. The engine is non-running but appears intact. Some re-commissioning will be required including some pipe work and electrical connections. Some spares are included to whit, a carburettor, bumper, lights etc. The paperwork includes an American certificate of title and a NOVA certificate. A rare car and an engaging project.

Porsche Boxster S 550 Anniversary Porsche Boxster S 550 Anniversary

Porsche Boxster S 550 Anniversary

Lot #221 (Sale Order 19 of 77)

When Porsche unveiled the Boxster as a concept car in 1993, the mid-engine roadster rekindled fond memories of the Porsche 550 Spyder. In celebration of the 50th anniversary of its famous lightweight sports car, Porsche launched a special edition of the Porsche Boxster S in 2003. Wearing dedicated "50 Years of the 550 Spyder" badging, only 1,953 of these commemorative vehicles were produced.A limited-edition plate on the centre console indicates the Anniversary car's production number with this example, number 1822.To enhance the already outstanding dynamic characteristics of the Boxster S, Porsche included sought-after equipment and technical features not previously available in the Boxster model line up. Porsche engineers boosted the 3.2-litre flat-six engine's output to 264 horsepower, up from 258 and standard 18” Carrera wheels improve the handling. A sonically tuned exhaust system with a stainless steel tailpipe delivers the sort of sound that stimulates those inside the car as well as those who hear it.As most 550 Spiders were painted silver, so too was the new Special Edtion Boxster S, finished in GT Silver Metallic, it is a colour only found on the Carrera GT and ‘40 Years of the 911’ models. For additional visual emphasis, the wheel spokes were painted in Seal Grey with crested centre caps and the monoblock brake callipers have an aluminium paint finish. The interior receives similar treatment with the centre panels of the standard heated seats, handbrake lever, gear lever gate, ball-shaped gearshift knob, inside door handles, and sport steering wheel are covered in perforated leather. In superb condition throughout, these limited edition examples are about to start changing hands for significant sums. Complete with full Porsche and specialist service history, the latest of which was in Nov 2016 at 54,000 miles at Autowerke Porsche Norwich. The MoT test expires in April, 2018 and it is also blessed with excellent bodywork as well as the car personalised registration, YXI 550 celebrating its heritage.

Chevrolet Camaro RS/SS Chevrolet Camaro RS/SS

Chevrolet Camaro RS/SS

Lot #222 (Sale Order 20 of 77)

Almost all of the 1967-1969 Camaros were built in the two U.S. assembly plants, Norwood, Ohio and Van Nuys, California. The '69 Camaro carried over the previous year's drivetrain and major mechanical components but with all new sheetmetal, except the bonnet and the boot lid. A redesigned grill with inset headlights, new door skins, rear quarter panels and rear valance panels resulted in the car having a lower, wider and more aggressive look. The RS was essentially an appearance package but the SS performance package was what really made this model stand out. The engine choice was either a 350 or 396c.i, V8 with chassis upgrades for better handling and to deal with the additional power. The SS also featured special striping and badges. This is an original matching numbers ex-Californian car which has just undergone a full engine rebuild by an American car specialist and has only covered 300 miles since. The engine has an upgraded Edelbrock fuel system and chrome air filters/intake, the cooling system was improved to the Be-Cool Radiator System with full electric automatic fans at a cost of circa $1,500. The exhaust system has also been upgraded with Doug Thorley Headers with opening control located in the dashboard for ease of use and at a cost of circa $2,500.

Bentley T1 Convertible by Mulliner

Lot #234 (Sale Order 25 of 77)

Predating Bentleys 1980s resurgence the T1 was produced in far fewer numbers than the equivalent RollsRoyce Silver Shadow and thus considerably rarer today On the road the TSeries afforded its owners the advantage of an eyeline higher than that of most other cars giving its occupants a commanding view of their surroundings while electrically adjustable seats ensured unrivalled comfort It soothes its driver like no other car In fact the move by RollsRoyce and Bentley to unitary construction meant that by the mid1960s the market for traditional coachbuilt automobiles had been severely curtailed Of the many firms trading prewar just two James Young and the now combined firm of H J Mulliner Park Ward Ltd were left to meet the though these might be more accurately termed conversions rather than 100 bespoke creations Demand for these exclusive models was strong right from the start despite a hefty premium that priced them at 50 more than a standard fourdoor Silver Shadow or T1Thought to be one of only 47 ever made this superrare T1 convertible benefits from coming from the Bentley factory in its converted state It was red originally but was changed to its current elegant Forrest Green colour in 1993 Meticulously maintained by its current owner 7383TU is reported to drive superbly and has been looked after with scant regard to expense coming as it does with a considerable history file It has been the subject of a full mechanical and body restoration in 20142015 by PT Classics of Hatfield Peveral and the interior still looks fresh The suspension has been upgraded to ‘compliant’ T2 setup and it also benefits from colourcoded threepoint seat belts to both front and rear If any proof was needed as to the care and attention taken on this car simply raise the bonnetthe sight that meets you is unusually good Clearly in superb condition clean and with upgraded ducting when running the feedback is equally reassuring Supplied with an impressive file of paperwork including details of a photographic engine rebuild and body strip as well as valuation certificates showing independent figures of 70000 this is a rare example and very well priced indeed

Porsche 914 Targa Porsche 914 Targa

Porsche 914 Targa

Lot #237 (Sale Order 27 of 77)

Originally announced in 1969 as an affordable sibling to the 911 the 914 was a sales hit particularly in America where the fashionable targa styling and midengined layout captured the imagination of a generation of sports car enthusiasts Although the 914 handled brilliantly some criticism was levelled at the relatively mundane performance afforded by the 17litre and later 20 Volkswagen sourced fourcylinder engines Zuffenhausen answered back by dropping in the flatsix from the 911T to create the 9146 in 1970 However the resulting price increase the new model cost the same as a 911 and around 50 more than a Jaguar EType resulted in poor sales and the 9146 was killed off after just three years production with just 3318 built compared with 115597 fourcylinder models The Porsche 914 was the precursor to todays Boxster and fulfilled a similar role back in the early seventies offering a midengined layout and 911level performance for those wanting something different to the ubiquitous 911 Today the 914 has a loyal following and is proving a popular choice for historic race or rally drivers hardly surprising given the model enjoyed a successful competition career in GT racing during the seventies sixth overall in the 1970 Le Mans 24Hour race a highlight This Porsche 914 was imported into the UK in 2016 and is registered on UK plates We are advised by the vendor she drives well and always creates a stir whenever he takes her out for a spin Presenting in good useable condition this 914 is finished in maroon with black interior The low centre of gravity of these Porsche makes them an interesting car to drive and the removable Targa panel offers the option of open top motoring The 1971cc fourcylinder engine runs well with plenty of torque available supplied with a V5C registration document this lefthand drive Porsche 914 is a great opportunity to enter classic car motoring at a realistic outlay

BMW 3.0 CSL BMW 3.0 CSL

BMW 3.0 CSL

Lot #242 (Sale Order 30 of 77)

The European Touring Car Championship of the early 1970’s encouraged performance manufacturers to build some rare and exciting homologation specials notably Ford with their Escort and Capri derivatives and BMW with their CSL Coupe Sport Leicht The BMW 30 CSL was indeed light – having thinner steel panels an aluminium bonnet boot and doors combined with a reduced trim that in total saved a valuable 300lbs in weight The power was derived from an enlarged 3003cc straight six engine this increase in capacity enabled entry into the over three litre racing categories Whilst providing around 200bhp and with the reduced weight the CSL was soon proving itself as one of the most sought after sports cars of the era   We are delighted to offer one of the 500 CSL’s that were sold to the UK market This righthand drive example is one of those original few that belonged to a regional director of the BMW Car Club in the 1980s The CSL was then purchased by North Oxford Garage a leading BMW dealer whereby it underwent a partial restoration using only genuine BMW parts This is supported by accompanying invoices within the history file and totaled in the region of 28000 The CSL remained in their collection until April 2012 when it was acquired by a retired BMW director Since that acquisition in 2012 it has been lovingly cared for with great attention being paid to the BMW’s detail For example the interior woodwork has been repaired and reveneered and the trim sympathetically repaired in areas using the correct materials as well as many others resulting with this CSL being one of the best available  Presented in the original colour of Polaris Silver with contrasting black original Scheel seats this example is hard to fault in any area and we think you will agree looks stunning The Blaupunkt radio and the rare trim items often missing on these models are present On the road this BMW belies her 45 years and according to our tester is a flying machine with a tight chassis and braking system to match all making high speed cruising effortless The old MoT test certificates and service information support the mileage and we are advised that this CSL will arrive at the sale with an MoT test certificate valid until August 2018 the afore mentioned history file handbook and service books as well as a fresh mechanics serviceWith these lightweight homologation specials being extremely sought after and prices reflecting this the advice will always be buy the best We believe this is one of those special motorcars in the right condition and perhaps one you have always promised yourself

The Austin 7 needs no introduction and has cemented in place as arguably the most important and versatile motorcar ever built Gordon England was the eponymous British coachbuilding company based in London After the war his interest turned to motorsport and in 1922 he obtained a chassis version of the new Austin 7 which he then tuned and entered successfully at several events and took a considerable number of 750cc class records along the way This led him to make and sell a series of cars to the public based on his racers He correctly believed that car performance was being held back by the heavy coachwork and set about designing bodies largely of plywood covered with fabric and fixed to the chassis with three rubber mountings The first model to be sold was the Brooklands Supersports Austin 7 and although his racing version had been fabric covered the production version was aluminium panelled Each one was supplied with a certificate stating that it would reach 80mph The ‘Cup’ model followed in 1925 and then a fabric saloon which came out before the official factory versionThis superb Ulster replica has been completed to a very high standard The aluminium body was hand built by Rod Yates and at the same time the engine was professionally rebuilt and now benefits from a Phoenix crankshaft The vendor painstakingly ensured everything was carried out to the highest standard the chassis together with all the running gear and ancillaries were stripped and repaired or replaced as necessary The result of all this attention to detail is an Ulster replica that appears to be very authentic in appearance without doubt this is one of the best Austin 7’s we have seen This delightful Austin appears to be realistically estimated given the high quality of workmanship it has taken to create such a fine example

Jaguar EType Series I Roadster (3.8 Litre)

Lot #264 (Sale Order 41 of 77)

Introduced in 38 litre form in 1961 the Jaguar EType caused a sensation when it appeared with instantly classic lines and 150mph top speed While inevitably the cars stupendous straightline performance and gorgeous looks grabbed the headlines there was a lot more to the EType beneath the skin The newcomers design owed much to that of the racing DType and indeed the EType would be one of the last great sports cars developed directly from a successful competition ancestor Just as in the DType a monocoque tub formed the main bodychassis structure while a tubular space frame extended forwards to support the engine The latter was the same 38litre triplecarburettor S unit first offered as an option on the preceding XK150 With a claimed 265 horsepower on tap the ETypes performance did not disappoint Firstly because it weighed around 500lb less than the XK150 and secondly because aerodynamicist Malcolm Sayer used experience gained with the DType to create one of the most elegant and efficient shapes ever to grace a motor carThis EType 38 litre Roadster was originally sent to the US and was repatriated to the UK in 1991 She was converted to righthand drive format and given a light restoration Recently this Jaguar has undergone some major restoration work including a bare metal respray with a superb paint finish New seals have been fitted around the doors and windows along with new carpets and aluminium dash panels The front disc and pads have been replaced together with front suspension bushes all of the engine coolant hoses have been replaced with new clips The vendor has spent many hours painstakingly preparing this EType to ensure she presents in excellent order Supplied with a V5C registration document together with a full years MoT test certificate and a two history folders this matching numbers Jaguar EType roadster is a stunning example and certainly deserves closer inspection

Jaguar XK120 Roadster

Lot #267 (Sale Order 42 of 77)

Jaguar in the 1950’s penned some of the most beautiful motorcars on the planet Few can deny the attraction the Malcolm Sayer designs had on film stars and the general public alike The sensation caused when successive XKs were unveiled at motorshows around the world followed by the EType has not been rivalled since The success enjoyed by Jaguar was not confined to the public roads however and Jaguar racings cars are equally competitive today as indeed they were over 60 years ago Indeed many specialists now exist catering to models preparing them to fast road and race specification Indeed it is a pleasure to offer this fully restored ‘Fast Road’ example todaySold initially through worldfamous Hoffmans of New York this lefthand drive example was built in 1954 and sold just a week later on the 17th to David Roland Evans from the Napa Valley in rustfree California The history is sketchy between then and 1993 when it was imported back to Europe through the Bremerhaven shipping terminal in GermanyWe pick up the trail again in 2009 in Finland and a lot of water has passed under the bridge It appears to have been owned for some time by Jouka Oja a collector of note It was under his ownership that it underwent a complete restoration in Germany It was completely dismantled by specialists followed by a noexpensespared chassis body and engine restoration over a reported eight year period The engine has been uprated to fastroad specification as attested to by an experienced Jaguar CType racing driver with all brakes and moving parts stripped and thoroughly rebuilt The engine was also uprated to circa 237bhp complete with desirable sandcast carburettors high volume aluminium radiatorKenlowe fan and stainless steel exhaust The interior is also of extremely high calibre the matching blue leather carpets and softtop are all of fine quality and restored to original manufacturers specifications It has since undergone approximately 500 shakedown miles in order to bed everything in No issues were reportedWith a final bill thought to be in the region of 200000 it is not difficult to see why The cost of the donor car matched to the sort of quality of work that you only hope other people have paid for and makes for quite a stunning Jaguar The colours work and it has been very well put together Indeed with a new MoT test certificate the soul of this car is very much alive and looking forward to the open road

Bentley S3 Standard Steel Saloon Bentley S3 Standard Steel Saloon

Bentley S3 Standard Steel Saloon

Lot #276 (Sale Order 43 of 77)

The last Bentley to be built on a separate chassis in 1962 saw the introduction of the Bentley S3 factory bodied standard steel saloon and at first glance it would appear that the all new S3 was merely an S2 with different headlamps The introduction of the twin headlamps was clearly the most obvious change but the differences did not end there Further changes included the introduction of smaller bumper overriders and the repositioning of the front indicators and side lamps into one single unit on the front wing resulting in a more attractive appearance The S3s interior now had individual front seats in place of the split bench seat found in the earlier STypes and some had air conditioning electric windows and front seat belts fitted Mechanically speaking the S3 was the same as the S2 with a 6230cc RollsRoyce V8 engine and automatic gearbox but this model was fitted with larger carburettors improved power steering to aid smoother movement at parking speed and a Lucas vacuumadvance distributor to aid fuel consumption making it almost identical in mechanical specification to the S3 Continental that was being produced at the same time Originally registered on 13th June 1965 this Bentley S3 has been owned by the current vendor since 2003 He has enjoyed the car immensely having used it both for commuting to the office and for long driving holidays The engine starts on the button and runs smoothly with no adverse noises or rattles and the gearbox operates as she should The twotone coachwork is in pretty good order although there are a couple of areas that may need attention and the olive green leather interior is quite divine with a splendid patina The seats are armchair like in their comfort and the wood has been refurbished at some stage We are advised she drives with no known faults This Standard Steel Bentley is supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until 13th June 2018 and a history folder Photographs courtesy of Luke Papworth of Hampshire Photography

Austin Healey 3000 Mk. I BT7 Austin Healey 3000 Mk. I BT7

Austin Healey 3000 Mk. I BT7

Lot #292 (Sale Order 50 of 77)

The 'Big' Healey enjoyed steady development, with the early four-cylinder cars giving way to the 100 Six in 1956, which in turn was replaced by the first of the 3000s in 1959. The new car featured an enlarged 2912cc version of Austin's six cylinder engine with twin SU carburettors and Girling front disc brakes offering excellent performance resulting in the model becoming a great success. The 3000 was only referred to as the Mk. I once the Mk. II model was introduced in 1961. Other changes were minor compared to those between the original 100 and the 100-6. The wheelbase and body were unchanged as were the body-styles, a 2+2 or BT7 and a two-seater BN7. This extremely well-presented and restored example was imported from the US in March of this year. Since then, it has been stripped and painted in the correct and original yellow. The engine and gearbox reportedly runs perfectly and the braking system is new as is the steering system. The exhaust has also been replaced with new suspension all round and new electrical system. Fiat 500 Lusso Fiat 500 Lusso

Fiat 500 Lusso

Lot #309 (Sale Order 60 of 77)

Despite its diminutive size, the 500, first introduced in 1957 with its small 479cc, two-cylinder, air-cooled engine, proved to be an enormously practical and popular car throughout Europe, capturing the hearts and minds of the public. The 'L' or Lusso was manufactured between 1968 and 1972 and featured a much more up to date interior including a renewed dashboard that gave the 500 a more modern feel. This lovely example was once owned by an elderly Italian Gentleman who, before he passed away, gave the little Fiat to his son. He stored it in a barn in Northern Italy and there it lay until being discovered in 2015. When the car was pulled from the barn, it was found to be in remarkably sound and rust free condition apart from being covered in dust and having a few dents and scratches. There are photographs of this resurrection held within the history file. In 2016, it was restored to the condition you see today. As is typical of many Italian motorcars, there is little documentation of the works but, we are informed, that at the time, the engine, brakes and suspension (including kingpins) were overhauled as well as a full refinish in its original colour. As may be expected, the coachwork is very good and is complemented by a lovely tan interior. Recently imported into the UK, this Fiat 500 is offered with an MoT test certificate valid until July 2018 and with a UK registration and document. With this being the 60th anniversary of the little Fiat, what better way to celebrate than to have the opportunity to bid on such a pretty car.

BMW M5 (E34) BMW M5 (E34)

BMW M5 (E34)

Lot #312 (Sale Order 61 of 77)

Just like the Jaguar Mk. II had done in the 1960's, the BMW M5, effectively reinvented the popular notion of a sports Saloon. Based on the E34 chassis which was produced at BMW's Dingolfing plant. The E34 generation of the M5 was produced from September 1988 to 1995. It was hand-built at BMW M GmbH in Garching, Germany. Assembly was done either by a single M employee or a team of M employees and generally took about two weeks. In the second half of 1991, engine displacement was increased to 3.8 litres with the S38B38. Power was now increased to 335bhp and the E34 M5 was the last M5 to feature an engine with a historical link to a BMW Motorsport racing engine. An E34 M5 was raced in the Australian 1992 Bathurst 12 Hour Production Car endurance race, placing 2nd overall and 1st in class. It was driven by former F1 champion Alan Jones, Neville Crichton and BMW Touring car driver, Tony Longhurst. This excellent example of an E34 M5 is sourced from a large collection hence the low mileage covered over the last decade equating to just over 1,500 miles. Offered in iconic BMW Avus metallic blue with grey nappa leather. An interesting car for many reasons, not least the fact that is was one of the first 3.8 litre M5's in the country with the chassis number denoting 00002. With just three previous owners, the car's PDI and running stamps show the vehicle was initially run by BMW GB themselves before going into private ownership.

Bentley Continental R Bentley Continental R

Bentley Continental R

Lot #314 (Sale Order 63 of 77)

Though launched at the Geneva Salon of 1991, many elements of the John Heffernan/Ken Greenley-penned Continental R had been seen at the same event as far back as 1984, when Bentley unveiled their Project 90' concept car; a suitably enthusiastic reception leading the company to develop the car for production. Clearly the Sultan of Brunei approved of the end result, as he bought the 1991 show car at the exhibition. The new car was based on the Turbo R floor-pan and powered by that model's 6.75 litre turbocharged, V8 engine, which was believed (the Rolls-Royce/Bentley company of the day never quoted horsepower figures) to produce in the region of 325bhp. Whatever, it was sufficient to give a top speed of some 145mph and a 0-60mph acceleration time of around 6.6 seconds - no mean performance for a car weighing in at some 2.5 tons and the best of any Bentley in its day. The engine drove through the then new four-speed transmission. Unlike all other Bentleys since the S3 of 1965, its body was unique to the marque and not shared with any model of Rolls-Royce.This 1995 model Bentley Continental R, built by Mulliner Park Ward, was first registered in December 1994 and owned by Rolls-Royce Motors Ltd. It was used for the first year as the press car and shown all over Europe with the registration 1800 TU. Finished in red pearl with sandstone piped in red leather interior, this has recently had the head gaskets replaced and new front tyres fitted.

Porsche 928

Lot #323 (Sale Order 71 of 77)

The Porsche 928 was a sportsGT 1978 to 1995 Originally intended to replace the companys iconic 911 The 928 attempted to combine the power poise and handling of a sports car with the refinement comfort and equipment of a luxury coupé to create what some Porsche executives thought would be a vehicle with wider appeal than the compact quirky and sometimes difficult 911The body styled by Wolfgang Möbius under guidance of Anatole Lapine was mainly galvanized steel but the doors front fenders hood and roof were aluminum in order to make the car more lightweight It had a substantial luggage area accessed via a large hatchback with new polyurethane elastic bumpers integrated into the nose and tail and covered in bodycoloured plastic an unusual feature for the time that aided the car visually and reduced its dragThe 928 qualified as a 22 having two small seats in the rear Both rear seats could be folded down to enlarge the luggage area and both the front and rear seats had sun visors for the occupants Porsches design and development efforts paid off during the 1978 European Car of the Year competition where the 928 won ahead of the BMW 7series and the Ford Granada The 928 is the only sports car so far to have won this competition where the usual winners are mainstream hatchbacks and saloons from major European manufacturers This is regarded as proof of how advanced the 928 was compared to its contemporaries This car was originally from Germany and then went to New Zealand where it was imported to the UK in 2017 Presented in metallic blue with blue leather interior and an automatic gearbox this is a good example of the luxurious V8 sports car from the iconic manufacturer The 928 models have become a retro musthave for those Porsche aficionados as the design is timeless and the smooth automatic gearbox make them extremely tractable in modern day city traffic but also fun on twisty country roads using all the torque its engine provides
